Description
A novel about the corrupting nature of power that features Willie Stark, a well-intentioned, idealistic back-country lawyer unable to resist greed for power and lust for politics during his rise-and inevitable fall-as an American demagogue. Stark draws a cast of memorable characters into his flawed life, and together they move toward mutual destruction innocent of their doom, the genuine hallmark of tragedy.
